Native American Congressional Internship

The Native American Congressional Internship Program provides American Indian and Alaska Native students with the opportunity to gain practical experience with the federal legislative process in order to understand first-hand the government-to-government relationship between Tribes and the federal government. 

Program Dates: May 30 - August 3

The program consists of:

  • A community of 12 American Indian and Alaska Native college, graduate, and law students who live and work in Washington, D.C., during the summer;
  • Access to a network of American Indian professionals and alumni who work on behalf of tribal nations; and
  • Housing, a living allowance, transportation to and from Washington, D.C., and an educational stipend of $1,200.
